Divisional Commissioner of Sylhet Division Dr Muhammad Mosharraf Hossain said that as the children of Bangladesh are playing World Cup cricket, they will also play World Cup football in the future. They Will fulfill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s dream. Keeping this goal in mind, various initiatives have been taken and implemented in the last 14-15 years for the development of sports.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman National Gold Cup Football Tournament, Boys (U-17) 2022 and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib National Gold Cup Football Tournament Girls (U-17) 2022 at Sylhet District Stadium on Friday morning.
The Divisional Commissioner said, Bangabandhu’s dream of golden bangla-three million martyrs’ hopes for the establishment of a developed Bangladesh requires golden people. But you cannot become a golden person by reading only textbooks. Apart from this, sports, literature and cultural activities are also needed.
The Divisional Commissioner said that keeping Bangladesh’s participation in the World Cup football in mind, sports are being organized at the school, college and university level under the government initiative.
The function was presided over by Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Debojit Singh. Special guests were Sylhet Range DIG Mofiz Uddin Ahmed PPM, Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Nisharul Arif, Deputy Commissioner Mozibor Rahman and Sylhet District Press Club President Al Azad.
Siraj Uddin, Executive Member of District Sports Association and Marian Chowdhury, General Secretary of District Sports Association, among others spoke on the occasion.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Mohammad Mobarak Hossain, Deputy Director of Information Md Salauddin, District Sports Officer Md Noor Hossain and veteran footballer Prabir Ranjan Das Bhanu were also present.
