Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation Ariful Haque Chowdhury said that a realistic and far-reaching budget will be formulated based on the opinion of the citizens to transform Sylhet into a modern and ecologically healthy city.
He also said that future budgets will have the outline of creating a prosperous society by prioritizing the opinions of citizens of different classes of the city.
On Tuesday morning, he was speaking at the CLCC meeting organized by the Capacity Development of City Corporation project according to the City Corporation Citizen Involvement Guidelines of the Local Government Department in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency-JICA.
SCC Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Badrul Haque gave a welcome address to the meeting. JICA Bangladesh Chief Coordinator Nao Ku Anzai delivered the welcome speech. Sylhet City Corporation’s annual report 2021-2022, annual budget, development projects, revenue collection, waste management and services were presented by assistant engineer Jaydev Biswas, assistant engineer Anshuman Bhattacharya Rakhu and assistant engineer Hasibur Rahman.
JICA Bangladesh local government expert Brajakishore Tripura gave a multimedia presentation about CLCC.
Among others, lawyer Freedom Fighter Bedananda Bhattacharya, Sylhet District Press Club President Al Azad, Senior Journalist Iqbal Siddiqui, Eminent Lawyer Emad Ullah Shahidul Islam, Private Hospital Owners Association President Dr Nasim Hossain, Industrialist M A Mannan, Photo Journalists Association President Sheikh Ashraful Alam Nasir, president of Sylhet Online Press Club Muhit Chowdhury, writer columnist Saleh Ahmad Khosru and general secretary of BAPA Sylhet Abdul Karim Kim addressed the meeting. PRO of SCC Abdul Alim Shah conducted the meeting.
