Special Correspondent, Habiganj: Inspector General of Bangladesh Police-IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun said that the police is not feeling any pressure from the outside world regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections.
He also said that the police will work under the Election Commission during the National Assembly elections. As a professional force, Bangladesh Police has the capability to face any challenge.
The IGP was answering various questions from the journalists after inaugurating the Bangabandhu Corner at the Habiganj Police Superintendent’s office on Thursday, September 7 at noon.
He also said that there was a time when militancy and terrorism were rampant in the country. Militancy is now under control as the police has taken proper action against all these.
Regarding Bangabandhu, the police chief said that there was a conspiracy to erase Bangabandhu’s name in the past. The work of setting up Bangabandhu Corner in police stations across the country is going on to bring Bangabandhu to the next generation.
Sylhet Range DIG Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman, Sylhet Metropolitan Police-SMP Commissioner Elias Sharif and Habiganj Superintendent of Police SM Murad Ali were present among others.
The IGP later participated in an exchange meeting with the policemen.
