Staff Correspondent: Sylhet District Administration, Directorate of Women Affairs and FIVDB have jointly celebrated National Girl Child Day.
On this occasion, a children’s rally, discussion meeting, cultural program and prize distribution were organized in the conference room of Directorate of Women Affairs, Sylhet, on Jail Road in the metropolis.
Deputy Commissioner Md Mojibor Rahman was present as the chief guest. Shahina Akhtar, Deputy Director of Women Affairs, presided over. Sylhet District Press Club President Al Azad, District Child Affairs Officer Saidur Rahman Bhuya, District Women Awami League General Secretary Advocate Salma Sultana, OCC Sylhet Clinical Psychologist Sumona Islam and FIVDB Divisional Manager Nazrul Islam Manzoor were the special guests. Kishore Kishori Club’s recitation teacher Priyashree Kar Pew was the moderator.
Chief Guest Deputy Commissioner said that today’s girls are tomorrow’s mothers. So they should be aware of their rights. Then they will take appropriate place in all areas of society in their own capacity.
On the occasion, prizes were distributed for the children’s painting and handicraft competition of the trainees of the Women’s Affairs Department of Shishu Day Care Center run by the Women’s Affairs Department.
Apart from this, interesting cultural programs were held with the participation of Kishore Kishori Club members.
