Tomorrow is Jail Killing Day. A tainted day in Bengali history. On this day in 1975, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s close companion, Mujibnagar Government’s Acting President Syed Nazrul Islam, Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmad, Finance Minister M Mansoor Ali and Home Minister A H M Kamruzzaman were killed in the Dhaka Central Jail.
Bangabandhu’s killer Khandaker Mushtaq Ahmad and other killers planned this murder. There is no precedent in the history of the world for the killing of national leaders in prison.
Like every year, the nation will remember the four martyred leaders who successfully led the great liberation war in Bangabandhu’s absence with deep respect. Various programs have been undertaken across the country on this occasion.
The program of Sylhet District Awami League includes laying wreaths on the portraits of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders at 12 noon on Thursday, November 3 at the Sylhet Zilla Parishad premises and doa mahfil at after Zohar Hazrat Shahjalal (R) Shrine Mosque.
Sylhet District Awami League and organ District Awami League Acting President Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury and General Secretary Advocate Md Nasir Uddin Khan have requested that the leaders and workers of affiliated organizations attend on time.
