Tributes have been paid to the memory of Manu Mia, the first martyr of the six-point movement, by research institute Muktijudda Onushilon Sylhet and Muktijudda Pathagar Sylhet.
The historic six-point day was observed on Wednesday, June 7, on a government initiative across the country, including the birthplace of Shaheed Manu Mia in Sylhet’s Beanibazar. Besides, like other years, the day is also observed by non-government initiatives.
Like every year, a discussion meeting, offering tributes and prayers were organized at the memorial built in the memory of Shaheed Manu Mia at Nayagram of Beanibazar municipality at noon under the initiative of Shaheed Manu Mia Smriti Parishad.
At this time, Executive Director of Muktijudda Onushilon Sylhet, founding president of Sylhet District Press Club and Electronic Media Journalists Association-EMJA Sylhet, Al Azad, President of Muktijudda Pathagar Sylhet, Writer Sheikh Nurul Islam and Joint General Secretary Journalist Amirul Islam Chowdhury Yahia paid tribute to the memory of Shaheed Manu Mia.
Speaking at the meeting earlier, Liberation war researcher-journalist Al Azad called for the naming of educational institutions and important facilities in Bianibazar and to inform the new generation about this heroic martyr. Press Release
