Staff Reporter : Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen has called upon the BNP to come to the upcoming National Assembly elections by apologizing to the nation for the misdeeds like arson, destructive activities and burning people in the name of the movement.
He also challenged the BNP leaders to prove public support by coming to the polls.
Dr A K Abdul Momen said these in response to the questions of the journalists at the Hazrat Shahjalal (R) majar on Friday, 24 November.
The foreign minister said that in 2001, Sheikh Hasina proved that the Election Commission during her government can conduct free, fair and impartial elections by performing their duties independently.
Dr A K Abdul Momen said, we shall accept the advice of foreign friends; But if someone raises the bar, we will resist. We are a winning nation. Many countries were against us even in 1971. However, although America opposed the liberation war but it strongly supported us in gaining membership in the United Nations.
He said, America is a pragmatic country. As in the past, after the election, after the formation of the government, Bangladesh will be properly supported.
At that time, the party leaders and activists including Md Zakir Hossain, State Minister of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education were present.
