The anti-air pollution mobile court managed by the Sylhet divisional office of the Department of Environment collected a fine of TK 7 lakh and destroyed 2 stone crushing machines.
The director of the Divissional office of the Department of Environment, executive magistrate Mohammed Emran Hossain led this mobile court against the stone crushing machine illegally built in the area adjacent to Sheola land port of Sylhet’s Beanibazar upazila on Tuesday.
At that time, the belt and motor of 2 stone crushing machines were destroyed while collecting the fine mentioned against 40 illegal stone crushing machines.
Members of the Ansar Battalion provided overall assistance in running the Mobile Court. The prosecution was given by Assistant Director of Environment Directorate Sylhet Md Badrul Huda and Md Haiminul Haque. Besides, Banani Das, Assistant Director of Environment Directorate, Sylhet Divisional Office, Laboratory Assistant Muhammad Shahadat Hossain and Sample Collector Md Rubel Mia were also present during the operation.
During the campaign, meetings were held with stone crushing plant owners, workers and others concerned to make them aware of the long-term effects of air pollution. Press release
