Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan said that the judiciary in Bangladesh is working independently. But the Judiciary has to go further with a concerted effort.
He said this in his guest speech at his civic reception organized by Sylhet City Corporation on Tuesday, April 30 at 10 pm.
The Chief Justice also said that if the local administration, law enforcement forces and the elected representatives of the people work together, the judiciary becomes complete and justice is established.
Addressing the expatriates, he called upon the new generation to inform them about the history of the country, including the language movement and independence movement of Bangladesh.
He said, it is everyone’s responsibility to save the haor-hills of Sylhet. Take care of that.
Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Md Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury presided over the event and delivered the welcome speech. Attorney General Abu Mohammad Amin Uddin spoke as the guest of honor.
Sunamganj-1 Constituency Member of Parliament Advocate Ranjit Chandra Sarkar, Senior District and Sessions Judge A Q M Nasir Uddin, Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Zakir Hossain Khan, Additional Divisional Commissioner Debjit Singh, Osmani Medical College Hospital Director Brigadier General Mahbubur Rahman, Additional DIG Humayun Kabir, Deputy Commissioner Sheikh Russel Hasan, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, District Bar Association President Ashok Purkayastha, Bangladesh Bar Council Member Advocate Ruhul Anam Mintu and Sylhet Judge Court PP Advocate Nizam Uddin Ahmed spoke also as special guests.
Mayor Md Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury presented greetings and mementos to Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan on behalf of Sylhet City Corporation.
