In 1966, Adamji jute mill worker Manu Mia of Bianibazar, Sylhet was martyred in police firing in Tejgaon, Dhaka, during a strike in support of the six-point Bengali Emancipation Charter declared by Bangabandhu.
Shaheed Manu Mia Smriti Parishad of Bianibazar has taken various programs to observe the day.
The program includes paying homage at Nayagram Shaheed Manu Mia memorial at 12 noon. After that, prayer mahfil will be held in the local mosque. Convenor of Smriti Parishad eminent educationist Md Ali Ahmad and member secretary Khaled Jafri called upon everyone to participate in the program. Staff Reporter
