On the occasion of International Women’s Violence Prevention and Rokeya Day, five successful women in various fields have been given Joyita awards in Sylhet.
On Friday morning, they were formally handed over certificates and crests.
They are Asma Kamali Shanto, Professor Dr Shamsunnahar Begum Hena, Faimun Nesa, Dilruba and Binota Debi.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Md Mozibor Rahman was the chief guest at the discussion meeting organized by the District Administration and Women Affairs Department in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
Shahina Akhtar, Deputy Director of Women Affairs Department presided over. The special guests were Syeda Zebunnesa Haque, former Member of Parliament who received the Rokeya Medal and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nesa Medal, Additional District Magistrate Imrul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police Shahriar Bin Salim, District Child Affairs Officer Saidur Rahman Bhuya, Central Women’s Awami League Vice President Salma Basit and Sylhet Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Swarnalata Roy. Priyanka Dash Roy was the moderator.
Besides, a human chain was made in the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in the morning. It was attended by Range DIG Mofiz Uddin Ahmed, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Zakaria, Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Nisharul Arif and District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun.
