A human chain has been formed in Sunamganj demanding the cancellation of the Digital Security Act and the withdrawal of the case filed against all journalists including Prothom Alo editor Matiur Rahman.
On Monday, April 4 at noon, this program was held in the premises of Shahid Minar of Sunamganj by the initiative of journalists and conscious citizens of Sunamganj.
At the same time, Prothom Alo Bandhu Sobha also made a human chain there.
People from various professions including lawyers, journalists, teachers, politicians, cultural workers, women’s movement leaders, social workers and students participated in the human chain.
General Secretary of Sunamganj District Udichi Shilpi Goshthi Jahangir Alam conducted the program and senior social worker Ramendra Kumar Dey, President of District Lawyers Association Taibur Rahman Babul, General Secretary Md Abdul Haque, Professor Chittaranjan Talukder, President of District Democratic Lawyers Association Ruhul Tuhin, Editor of daily Sunamganj Khabar. Calling the Digital Security Act is a black law, the speakers said, people do not want this black law; But the government is desperate for its own interests and suppression of dissent. This law is also being misused.
Speakers also said that the media is not an opponent of the government but rather a friend. They will give constructive criticism, highlight the crisis.
