In fact, the mayor, councilors and women’s councils have been campaigning heavily in the municipal area since the allocation of symbols; But now they are very busy.
Next Wednesday, November 2, the municipal residents will form the municipal council elected by exercising their voting rights.
However, many speculations are going on among the common people about who is the first municipal mayor. From the tea shop to the alleys of the market, wherever you go, there is only election talk. As it is the first municipal election, enthusiasm among the citizens is naturally high. So the mood of the festival prevails.
Seven candidates are competing for the post of mayor in the municipal elections. They are Upazila Awami League Acting General Secretary Farooq Ahmad, former Upazila Parishad Chairman Muhibur Rahman, Upazila BNP President Jalal Uddin (Hanger) who resigned from the party, Newham BNP Organizing Secretary, sportsperson Mumin Khan Munna, Jamiat Ulamae Islam Maulana Shibbir Ahmad, Al-Islah Talukdar Faizul Islam and United Kingdom BNP leader Safiq Uddin.
The total number of voters of Bishwanath Municipality is 35 thousand 470. 18 thousand 279 male voters and 17 thousand 191 female voters.
