Staff Reporter : 4 dacoits have been arrested in a police operation in Golapganj, Sylhet.
According to Sylhet District Police information, under the direction of Superintendent of Police Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Paritran Talukdar of Golapganj Circle, under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge of Golapganj Model Police Station, Md Rafiqul Islam, a team of police conducted a special operation based on secret information at Fulsaind village on Tuesday at 12:30 am.
Police received information that a group of 7/8 robbers would gather in Fulsaind area for the purpose of robbery at night. Several teams of police stationed in the field to confirm its authenticity. Once the members of the dacoit gang tried to escape after sensing the presence of the police in Fulsaind village, the police chased Mokhleshur Rahman (40) son of Chenu Mia Meraj of Rasulpur village of Nikli upazila of Kishoreganj, Abul Hossain Ripon (34) son of Taiyab Ali of Nashiorpur village of Balaganj upazila of Sylhet, Nazrul Islam (33) son of Mahibullah of West Tilpara village of Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet and Md Harun Rashid (32) son of Late Ishaq Ali of Butirapara village of Golapganj were arrested.
During the arrest, 2 Ramdas, 1 lock breaking sly range, 2 GI pipes and 1 Hero Honda motorcycle used in robbery were recovered from them.
The police claimed that these 4 people are violent ‘robbers’.
The Superintendent of Police said that in the coming winter, intelligence surveillance has been increased on the members and gangs of professional robbers to control the law and order situation in Sylhet inhabited by expatriates.
