The president of Sylhet district press club, senior journalist and liberation war researcher Al Azad and 18 people of the country received Padakkhep Award for their special contribution in various medias including poetry, fiction, children’s literature, recitation and journalism.
The national organization for literary and cultural affairs Padakkhep Bangladesh awarded them. Awards and crests were handed over to the awardees at a ceremony organized at Biswa Sahitya Kendra in Dhaka on Friday.
The event was inaugurated by veteran actor Ataur Rahman. Bangladesh News Agency-BSS Board of Directors Chairman, Former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor A A M S Arefin Siddique was the chief guest. Badal Chowdhury, president of Padakkhep Bangladesh, presided over. Jannatun Nisa, general secretary of the organization gave a welcome speech.
Award 2019 : Poet Makid Haider (Poetry), Dilara Mesbah (Fiction), Imrul Chowdhury (Children’s literature), Bhaswar Bandyopadhyay (Recitation), Kazi Rafiq (Journalism) and Azizur Rahman (Painting).
Award 2020 : Bimal Guha (Poetry), Parvez Hussain (Fiction), Akhtar Hussain (Children’s Literature), Mir Barkat (Recitation), Bibhuranjan Sarkar (Journalism) and Manab Chandra Das (Publishing).
Award 2021 : Golam Kibaria Pinu (Poetry), Sarwar-ul-Islam (Children’s literature), Md Ahkam Ullah (Recitation), Al Azad (Journalism) and Redawanur Rahman (Publication).
At the same time Dr Triptish Chandra Ghosh 2019, Dr Mallika Biswas 2020 and M Zainul Abedin Rose was awarded the 2021 year anniversary award.
Reacting in this regard, Sylhet District Press Club President Al Azad said that receiving an award in journalism as a media worker is certainly a good thing. It increases mental strength and work speed. The step is to thank Padakkhep Bangladesh.
He said that he could not go to Dhaka to accept the award because he was busy with special work. However, the steps have been discussed with the Padakkhep Bangladesh authorities. Press release
