Staff Reporter : Every month in Sylhet district 1 lakh 83 thousand 363 families of low income are given the products of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh-TCB at subsidized price.
This information was disclosed in the district monitoring committee meeting regarding the sale of TCB products to keep the daily necessities at a tolerable level in the conference room of the district administration on Sunday, September 24.
In the meeting, it was decided to send a recommendation to Dhaka to further increase the number of beneficiaries in the extended 15 wards of Sylhet city in the current context.
Each family receiving ‘Family Card’ can buy 5 kg of rice, 2 kg of dal and 2 liters of soybean oil from TCB per month.
The chairman of the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Sheikh Russel Hasan ordered to follow the government instructions properly in the sale of TCB’s products.
Besides, he also laid importance on organizing monitoring committee meetings every month.
The Deputy Commissioner said that besides selling TCB products at subsidized prices, the government has fixed the prices of potatoes and onions.
The meeting conducted by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mohammad Mubarak Hossain. Senior Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman highlighted the product supply and market situation of TCB. Among others, the President of Sylhet City Awami League, Freedom Fighter Masuk Uddin Ahmed, Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Samrat Talukder, former President of Sylhet District Press Club and EMJA Al Azad and Executive Engineer of Sylhet City Corporation Ruhul Alam spoke.
Also, officials of various government departments at the district level and upazila executive officers through virtual connection spoke.
